Dead Ringers is David Cronenberg's 1988 psychological thriller starring Jeremy Irons in a dual role as Beverly and Elliot Mantle, twin gynaecologists whose shared life collapses into addiction and madness. It is loosely based on a real case.
Clip-wise, the challenge is that hospital corridors and consulting rooms look generic for the first few reveals. The twin trick is the tell: once you see the same face in two places, or those crimson operating gowns, the field narrows to one film. Cronenberg's clinical, chilly palette is itself a hint if you know his work.
